AccessToTreatment.org represents the cooperative effort of five companies:
Boehringer Ingelheim International GmbH,
Novartis Pharmaceuticals, and
Pfizer. The platform was designed and is administered by
Axios International, specialists of chronic care systems in developing
countries.
Our goal is for institutions and their patients in Least Developed
Countries to access the medical products provided under this cooperation.
AccessToTreatment.org currently provides four donation (products are free) and
two access (products are sold at no-profit) programs.
"435 healthcare institutions in
93 countries participate. These
institutions include
governments, non-governmental
organizations, faith-based
organizations, and international
agencies. More than 3 million
patients have benefited from
access since the year 2000".
We are actively recruiting additional
manufacturers and institutions.
Role of Axios International
Axios International works with
participating healthcare institutions and manufacturers, to ensure the proper
match between products and institutions, analyzing supply and demand, ensuring
the respect of pharmaceutical requirements, and the communication of necessary
data among partners via a web-based network.
Axios assists applicant institutions by engaging in dialogue to
understand the scope of their programs and needs. This includes technical
assistance regarding forecasting, procurement, and logistics.
Axios ensures that healthcare institutions benefiting from the
discounted prices or donations meet the technical standards required for proper
utilization of the drugs and tests.
Axios assists participating manufacturers through the above quality
control assurance and by the sharing of information, experience, and the vision
of Access To Treatment in developing countries.
